Safety
We now have a one year record with no accidents or injuries. We've been fortunate since we often work on steep, slippery slopes, with heavy equipment, and sometimes poor coordination. To continue the good record we (Harve, Jerry, Ray and I) will continue the safety talk before each pickup. Sturdy shoes or boots are needed to work off-road. We also need to take water, rest, and cookie breaks every half-hour or so. If you're lucky that might be Dan's Chocolate Chip Cookies. Safety glasses need to be worn for glass and other hazardous junk. Work around tractors requires spotters and communications between all persons involved. We'll use two way radios as needed to stay in touch. We want to keep this operation safe and efficient!
What should I bring on a trash pickup?
- Work boots
- Work clothes
- Water if you prefer your own
What should I expect ?
Normally an email is sent out (You are on the mailing list right?) a week or so in advance which provides specifics about times, meeting place, agenda, and any other important things. We carpool and reimburse drivers for milage. Events last from 2-6 hours and you WILL leave feeling satisfied.
